News Travels slow

An American tourist arrives in Iran durring Muharram and is witness to the multitude of public grieving ceremonies, the weeping, the chest beating, the self -flagellating, everyone in black and of course the black flags hanging from every building and house.
"What happened?" asks the American.
An Iranian replies "we're mourning Hossein's death."
"Oh i m so sorry,"says the American,"when did he die?"
"fourteen hundred years ago" says the Iranian.
"Boy,"says the American, "News sure travels slow in these parts."
